Beatrice Ruobin Huang
is an opera stage director with a background in opera performance and communication, currently pursuing a master's degree in opera directing at the Butler Opera Center, UT Austin. Her work is fueled by a deep passion for historical inquiry, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative creativity.

In the 2025 season, Beatrice joins Chicago Summer Opera as an assistant director for Gianni Schicchi and The Medium. During the 2025-2026 season at the Butler Opera Center, she will direct Gianni Schicchi and an opera scenes performance, while assisting on Cendrillon. Recent directing credits include L’enfant et les sortilèges (co-directed with Garnett Bruce), August 1st Uprising (composed by Kai Luan), and Le Nozze di Figaro. As an assistant director, Beatrice has worked on The Ghosts of Versailles (composed by John Corigliano), Don Giovanni, and Schoenberg in Hollywood (composed by Tod Machover).

 

Beyond directing, Beatrice is dedicated to academic research. Her study, “Orpheus through History-The Myth of Orpheus in Opera History,” won the Silver Award at the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s 1st Graduate Research Forum. She also runs the podcast Manyanshuning, where she explores music and culture.
